State KSA Testing for grades 3-5 will begin May 6th. Please be looking for upcoming additional information in the weeks ahead.
Students just finished their Fairy Tale Unit in CKLA and celebrated with a Royal Tea Party.
Reading: Main Idea and Key Details with informational text
Math: Double Digit Addition and Subtraction to 120
Math: Students just finished learning two digit addition and subtraction and measurement. We will begin our cumulative practice and iReady testing in April.
Reading/CKLA: Students are introduced to major figures and events in the War of 1812, sometimes called America’s second war for independence. Students learn about James and Dolley Madison, “Old Ironsides,” “The Star-Spangled Banner,” the Battle of New Orleans, and more, all of which build a foundation for more in-depth study in later grades.
Math: Students will be learning about Quadrilaterals and shapes! They will learn about types of sides (parallel and not parallel), types of angles (90 degree/right angles), and to classify based on sides and angles.
CKLA- We are learning about the human body and 3 of the systems: skeletal system, muscular system, & nervous system.
Reading:We are learning about poems, stories and dramas!
Math- Students will learn about comparing decimals. Students will also learn about types of angles (acute, right, and obtuse), how to measure and draw angles, how to add and subtract with angles, and how to classify two-dimensional figures.
Reading - Students will explain the major differences between poems, drama, and prose.
Science- Students are learning about the Earth’s processes.
Math: We will continue multiplying fractions by whole numbers, and fractions by fractions to find area. We also will divide unit fractions by whole numbers and whole numbers by unit fractions.
Social Studies: We will continue our Government Unit. We will be discussing the development and establishment of the U.S. federal government, the structure of the U.S. government, and how The U.S. Constitution upholds popular sovereignty, ensures rule of law and establishes a federal system.
Writing:We will continue working on writing opinion essays. We completed our last Live Scoring on April 1, 2025

Kindergarten: Reviewing the letters U, V and W with the books Unicorn Thinks He’s Pretty Great, The Very Impatient Caterpillar and Is a Worry Worrying You? Finish the 100 book reading challenge.
1st & 2nd grade: Continue working on our 100 Book Reading Challenge in class AND at home. If your Bulldog needs a paper, they can get one any time.
3rd - 5th grade: Finish our Book Bingo Genre Challenge with the April challenge of having a coverall on their boards.
Science- All grades will have biology and either grow a plant or make a model of plant structures. Enjoy the outside with your students and note the diversity of plants in our region. Have fun!
GES students help collect $2358 for Jump Rope for Heart! We are so excited to be a part of this program and be able to help donate this money to help others.
