Glasscock was the district winner of- High Attendance Day!

Tuesday, September 9th, was high attendance day in Marion County. Glasscock had the highest attendance throughout the district. The students enjoyed special treats throughout the day, and then got to cheer on Mrs. Russell as she kissed the pig as promised! Good job Bulldogs!

Third Grade

Math: Multiplication Strategies (repeated addition, equal groups, arrays) & Properties of Multiplication! 

ELA/Reading: *Refer to Unit 2 Overview sent home.  Review the study guide nightly. The unit #2 assessment will be after fall break.

Fall Festival Basket:  The third grade has a themed basket for our fall festival!  This basket will be auctioned off to raise money for our school.  Our theme is Rainy Day Fun!  Please help us fill the basket by donating items for this!  Some examples of items we need are card games, coloring books, craft supplies, board games.  Please send items in with your student by October 17th.  Anything is greatly appreciated!

Fourth Grade

Math: We will be working on word problems involving multiplication and division, learning about factors and multiples, and working with number and shape patterns.

Reading: We will continue our unit on the Middle Ages.  Students will work on citing textual evidence in their writing, identifying subject and predicates, and using close Reading strategies to answer comprehension questions.

Science: We are learning about internal and external structures of animals and how they help the animals survive.

Fifth Grade

ELA- We are wrapping up CKLA Unit 2:  Early American Civilizations and will be beginning CKLA Unit 3: Visions in Verse: Poetry

Social Studies: we will finish our Exploration and Early Settlement unit and then begin Comparing the Colonies. Students will examine the similarities and differences among the colonial regions, focusing on government, geography, and reasons for settlement. These comparisons will help them support the DBQ claim: Cultural, economic, and environmental factors affect the movement of people. Students will also take a 13 Colonies labeling map quiz.

Writing: Students will continue working on opinion essays, focusing on supporting their ideas with evidence and correctly citing information from multiple sources.

5th Grade Fall Festival Basket::We’re excited about our fishing-themed basket for the Fall Festival, and we need your help to make it extra special! Thank you for helping us reel  in something amazing!

Specials

3rd, 4th & 5th graders have started their Genre Reading Challenge. 1st & 2nd graders are excited to start checking out books and Kindergarten will be learning about the letters F with the book When Beavers Flew, G with the book Giraffe is too tall for this book, and H with the book Hilda Hen’s Scary Night.
