MCPS receives $10 million in grant funding for ATC renovation

Marion County Public Schools received good news recently when it learned that it will receive $10 million in grant funding from the School Facilities Construction Commission to renovate the Marion County Area Technology Center (ATC). MCPS is one of only two districts in the state to receive the maximum amount of available funding, which can only be used at the ATC.

While plans for the renovation aren’t finalized, MCPS Superintendent Brady has said it is likely that the project would include adding an advanced manufacturing wing to the school. You can listen to Supt. Brady discuss the grant and how it could potentially be used below.

VIDEO: LES Music Madness

Lebanon Elementary School music teacher Brittany Johnson is having her students take on a Music Madness bracket challenge. Students listen to songs in one-on-one matchups and then vote for their favorite to move on to the next round. The songs are the #1 hits from the years when LES teachers graduated high school. And while they listen, students are encouraged to dance.

"Through all the different genres we're listening to I've been able to see these kids blossom, and that's been a joy," Johnson said. "They're getting much more out of than just a standard or music lingo, and I love that."
